Lawrence Yichu Yuan

Lawrence specializes in domestic and transnational litigation and arbitration in complex commercial and financial disputes.

He obtained his LL.M. degree from New York University School of Law, where he focused on transnational litigation and arbitration. He earned straight As for all dispute-resolution-related courses and published an opinion piece on ITA in review, a high-caliber journal of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration. As a recipient of the PRC National Scholarship, he holds an LL.B. and a B.A. in English from Shanghai International Studies University, where he was honored as Shanghai Rongchang Scholar. His team has won the Hardy C. Dillard Award for Best Combined Memorials in the world-renowned Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. He was selected as the law school’s valedictorian for his academic achievements. He passed the Chinese bar exam in 2021 and the New York bar in 2022.

Lawrence has externed for Hon. Gerald Lebovits at the Supreme Court of the State of New York where he wrote ruling recommendations for pending cases.

Lawrence is a bilingual English and Mandarin speaker and an English-Mandarin translator certified by the PRC government (CATTI Band II). He specializes in legal, commercial, and financial translation and has provided consecutive interpretation (Chinese-English) for 6 months to the management committee affiliated with the world’s largest bank in terms of AUM.
